About Lice Happens

Lice Happens is a professional, private, and mobile lice removal clinic that comes to homes of families dealing with a lice outbreak.  We are proud to serve families living in South New Jersey.  Emily Betterly has been helping families for over six years and her locally owned and operated franchise in South New Jersey takes great pride in helping families find relief.  She says, “I have also enjoyed building a great team of lice specialists that are out in the field everyday educating families to be lice experts!”

Young children are the most susceptible to a lice outbreak.  Because of the nature in which children explore life and learn with each other, they are more prone to an infestation.  Though classrooms and playgrounds have plenty of room, children are often found huddled together solving problems, working together, learning together, and playing together.  Lice do not jump or fly, but when two heads are pressed together they will rapidly crawl from one host to the next.  Lice spread easily and quickly.  At Lice Happens we believe that there is no shame when it comes to a lice infestation.  It happens!  Our motto is “No shame.  No blame.”  It is impossible to identify where your child picked up lice, the best thing you can do as a parent is arm yourself with the knowledge, skills, and tools to identify and treat head lice effectively and efficiently.

One of our main goals at Lice Happens is to teach families what they need to know in the case of a lice infestation.  Another of our goals is to, of course, help families treat a lice infestation.   Our specialists go through extensive training to learn techniques for removing and treating head lice and to learn facts about head lice.  We pass this knowledge on to our clients.

When you call us to your home, it isn’t something we take lightly.  We are honored to be invited into your private residence and will never take advantage of you or your time.  We will arrive in logo-free vehicles, equipped with everything we need to take care of your lice problem in one visit.  We start by screening each member of the family to ensure that those who have lice are identified.  Though children are the most susceptible to having head lice, adults are not immune.  All it takes is one snuggle to become infected.  Again, there is no blame for a lice infestation.  It happens.  However, we will promptly treat each member of your family requiring treatment, for head lice.  We teach parents the proper way to screen for head lice and what to look for in a screening so they know what to do in the future.  Regular screenings are recommended for school aged children as an early detection makes for easier eradication.

Our treatments are 100% safe and effective.  Our methods have been in practice for quite some time and are tried, true, and proven to work.  We use only non-toxic treatments made from pesticide free and environmentally friendly ingredients.  They are gentle and have no side effects.  The specialist will use a fine toothed metal lice comb to remove lice eggs (nits), young lice (nymphs), and adult lice from the hair and scalp of the host.  Once removed, lice cannot survive for more than 24 hours without a host.  We will teach you the proper way to use this comb so that you can provide follow up care in the days after treatment.

While we’re teaching you about screening and combing and while we’re treating your family for head lice, we’ll answer all of your lice related questions.  We will address any concerns you may have as well.  Our lice experts are ready to give you all of the education and knowledge you need to feel empowered in the future.  We cover myths vs. facts about head lice, how they spread, who gets them, home cleaning care, hygiene, and many other topics.  We will also provide your family with tips on how to prevent a lice infestation in the future.  If, however, your child becomes re-infected from another source down the road, you’ll know exactly what to do.

Families living in South New Jersey can rest easy knowing they have a professional and mobile lice treatment service waiting to help.  We serve the following areas of South New Jersey, but if you do not see your area listed, give us a call.  We help families in Atlantic County, Burlington County, Camden County, Cape May County, Cumberland County, Gloucester County, Ocean County, and Salem County.

We are proud to call South New Jersey our home, as we know many families in the area do as well.  South Jersey is comprised of the eight most southern counties in the state.  The Dutch settled South New Jersey in 1609 and the Swedish came over in 1638.  In 1667 the British took over until the revolution.  As a central location between Philadelphia and New York, South New Jersey was pivotal during the revolution and contains much history from that time.  This area of New Jersey is home to many fantastic schools, colleges, casinos, a boardwalk, shopping, and beaches.  There is plenty for families to do and explore in South New Jersey.  It’s also easy to get away for a weekend trip into New York City or Philadelphia via the excellent public transportation that New Jersey offers.

Lice Happens understands that lice never come at an opportune time.  Nobody plans for a lice infestation.  We will never take advantage of you, your family, your frazzled state-of-mind, or your pocketbook.  We will never up sell you with gimmicks or gadgets that promise shortcuts for lice removal or home sanitizing services.

We are available 7 days a week to serve you.  We offer same day emergency lice removal and treatment services as well as appointments.  You can reach us at (610) 952-3691.
